I called the vet on Sunday. He called me back and said to give bute for 4 days, 1 gram twice daily for 2 days, then 1 gram once daily for another 2 days. I think it is supposed to help like aspirin. It has gone down a little bit and on sunday it had gone down on half the side, it looked funny. I didn't go yesterday as I wasn't feeling well so Al went and cold hosed him. Another boarder was there and helped him as he said Cooper was being fidgety, he never behaves for him. When I have him hold him he tries to walk off with him all the time, nip at his hands, push him. Al has to learn to be a leader with him or he will get hurt, just like I had to learn.

If it doesn't go down considerably more by Monday I am to call them again. He's not sore

I wonder if Bute works on horses like asperin does on people? Asperin thins the blood so it helps clots dissolve, right? Maybe the Bute would work similar?

I didn't give him any bute, but I do have it if he needs it. I just found out yesterday that it could help with the swelling, but it's been 5-6 days now. He didn't seem to be in any pain and moves normally.

Have you been giving him Bute or anything else to help with the pain and swelling?
