Hopefully you mother is feeling better!
The tail sure does hurt, I've had it done to me too, not by cooper yet, He tends to lift his tail and poo when I am back there picking his feet. Bad boy, happens all the time too, I bend over, lift his back foot and up goes the tail and out comes the poo!!

Can you see how his eye is shut in sheer content and pleasure in this pic? I LOVE that!
Last night I grazed him for an hour and then brought him in and put him in the cross ties to
get the mud groomed off of him. He took his tail and whipped it across my face. Felt like a whip!
As we was telling himself "Great shot", I was hauling off and hitting him. He backed off Right now and slid over. I'm sure he knew it was a fair response but very rare I hit him like that. I had a brush in my hand too so a little more effective then my bare hand. I've been told they know exactly what they are doing with their tail that getting you is no accident and I for sure believe that now. I think he was annoyed that he couldn't eat longer and he doesn't like being in the cross ties. I allow him to express his dissatisfaction with his ears but not a tail whipping.
My mom is suppose to be able to leave the hospital today. She was diagnosed as having "broken heart syndrome" after many tests and a heart cath. It's a very interesting disease/occurance. Lots of information under ":Google" if u want to check it out.
