Harvey is now in his 23rd year, and is a 16 3 hh Irish Draft x. People who meet Chanti and Harvey say they are soulmates and have a connection that is truly amazing. Sometimes it seems that Chanti only has to think a thought and Harvey carries out the request. Harvey came from an abused home where he was beaten regularly. When Chanti took him on, he was in what can only be described as a red mist zone, where humans were not to be trusted in any shape or form. The treatment at the hands of his then owners was deplorable considering he was such a giving horse, working with the riding for the disabled and the Special olympics. Born with a deformed back leg, did not stop Harvey from turning his hooves to jumping, eventing and dressage, in fact he and Chanti made quite a team. Like Chanti he has a sense of naughtiness and mischievousness which resulted in both of them being disqualified from two dressage tests because "we basically got bored and wanted to go off and do our own thing" says Chanti. "He knows me too well and will flick and ear in my direction and give me that look that says shall we and I simply cannot resist." Harvey is great at working with veterans of the armed services and truly troubled teenagers, particularly boys - he has been there and done that and knows exactly what they are going through and what they are thinking. "The teenage boys we have worked with and the truly troubled souls that have come our way all develop this amazing bond with Harvey. Its fantastic considering what he once went through himself at the hands of teenagers and adults. His capacity for understanding is a gift." It is Harvey that was the founder equine member of IAAU - "he has taught me so much....I owe him everything" says Chanti :)
