Heehee. Yes, that sounds very familiar, we have to do the same thing. Canadians are too darn smart! ;) Ah well, since they keep us thinking they'll always keep our brains sharp... no aging grey matter issues for the owner of a Canadian Horse! *lol* They certainly are entertaining, I love their 'thinking' mode... his ears go out to the side and you can see him concentrate... you almost expect steam to come out of his ears!

I bet that you are going to have lots of fun next year... Scooter will be mentally and physically mature and eager to get to down to business! :)

Very true about the being bored bit. When he is trying to push his boundaries the best thing is to ask him to do something slighty new and then he focuses on the new task instead of trying to get away with stuff. I think 4 will be a great year for Scooter!

Coopersmom, Canadians are great horses... my boyfriend is addicted and wants one of his own too!

Queenrider, he does look like his daddy, doesn't he? :) I am curious to see how he matures... he certainly is ending up taller than Neirin. I also plan to wait until my boy is four before I do any serious work with him, since he will still be growing and adjusting to the changes in his body. He is a brat when he is bored too (bang bang bounce!)... I think that we will have to find creative things to keep him busy until he starts real work under saddle.

He looks more like his sire, Neirin. Scooter has a straighter profile with a quirk bump and heavier build. Yes, he has his quirks! I have stopped riding Scooter so he can grow until next year. I will start him back as a 4 year old. His gaits were going though so many changes that I decided it would be best to let him finish growing. Scooter does not agree with this as he makes a racket in his stall when I put him back! He will stand in cross ties and every leg is pointing in a different direction. He used to stand very straight. He is maturing mentally and and has lost his deer in the headlights look. He finally has the Canadian eye.

My husband & I are both in agreement that our next horse will be a Canadian.
I have always loved the breed and he fell in love with them when we went to get a Nurtural Bitless Bridle at Zoe's farm in Worthington.
