if you look around the toe region and along the white line and in the toe/quarter region of the sole, you can see the groove where old sole is starting to pull away from the bottom of the hoof. the horse had a complete sub solar abscess so there is new sole growing under what is visible now as the sole. the sole you can see is dead and will eventually come off completely probably including the frog. The horse was 2 years - no hoof care before i bought him 3 months ago.
