The Cat & Fiddle is the second highest pub in England, at 1690 feet asl. Built in 1830 on the newly completed road across the Peaks from Buxton to Macclesfield, and much used by loose-headed droves of up to 40 Fell ponies packing 16 stone (224 lbs) of lead ore from the mines around Buxton. The contours were carved out by glaciers around 14,000 years ago. It's not Photoshopped, by the way - the light and clouds really do look like that!
