A Bit About Me and my Horse(s): I am Anne Marie Melenhorst a horse trainer/instructor with over 30 years of experience in almost every aspect of the Equestrian World. I started riding at the age of 5 and just loved it. They say when it is in your blood it never goes away and I believe that is so. I have riden at the academy in Coevorden. Later on moved a bit further from home, started riding for the Vrieling Family. Yes, where the world famous painted warmblood stallion SAMBER resided. I have learned a lot there. The most wonderful people I have ever met. At Vrieling Stud I started to love riding Dressage and there I made the decision to start riding in the Dressage Competition. The first horse of my dressage career was of course a paint and a daughter of Samber her name was Bonte. She was a bit small but had all of Samber's qualities. During my college years, I attended the Agricultural College in Zwolle, I changed stables and ended up in Nieuw-Schoonebeek: Strieper Dressage Stables. I have ridden several horses for this stable till Level 3 dressage. Lunging became one of my specialties in training horses. I was taught by Mr. Lammert Haanstra, a highly respected horse trainer in the Netherlands. One of his quotes: Good lunging is an art: you don’t learn it just by reading books about it, but most of all by using your conscious, by following the guidelines.
