Ever since I was a kid, I've always loved horses. No one else in my family rides or owns horses, so I was pretty much on my own. It wasn't until I was twelve years old, when I took riding lessons during a two-week summer camp, that I REALLY became hooked. Upon returning home, riding was all i talked about. I started taking riding lessons at a local hunter/jumper stable in Cincinnati.
The rest, I guess you could say, is history. I took lessons every week, sometimes twice a week. I found ways to work around horses, cleaning stalls and grooming at "backyard barns" in wealthy neighborhoods. I went on to major in Equestrian Studies at The University of Findlay. During my summers, I taught horseback riding at a summer camp in northern Wisconsin. Since graduation, I have taught riding at a public riding stable, managed a boarding and lesson facility, and managed a breeding farm.
It was while I worked at the breeding farm that I finally was able to purchase my own horse. He's a black 1998 Tennessee Walking Horse gelding - though in the summer he bleaches out to almost a dark copper color. He's an amazing trail horse - gentle and friendly, but every once in a while he lives up to his nickname "the Big Bad Badger." He and I have been through a lot together, and I'm looking forward to many more miles with him.
Happy trails!

Do you have any pets?
Other than my horse, no. I used to have a Rottweiler, and would love to get another some day.
