I know this topic could be discussed forever, but I'd like the opinion of any folks out there who care to respond on the topic of feeding grains vs. not feeding them. I recently brought a new horse home and she is a Tennessee Walker;  I have read that these horses can be prone to metabolic problems and I would like to keep her diet as simple as possible. She is at a good weight now, and only gets moderate exercise.  I would like to feed only good hay and pasture, but am getting lots of…See More

Grazing Muzzles

Could anyone give me some advice on the use of grazing muzzles;  I have two mares, each with a different issue;  my elderly (29 year old) standardbred colics if she is put out on spring pasture too suddenly, but I don't have control of that;  my Morgan is just an easy keeper and she puts on way to much weight when she is out on the rich pasture at my barn;  both girls are out during the day and in at night;    I have been thinking about trying grazing muzzles for them this spring;  I would love…See More

A Bit About Me and my Horse(s)
I am a fairly new rider; I became a grandmother and decided, "It's now or never!", and I started taking riding lessons. That was 5 years ago and now I have two horses of my own; a 28 year old Standarbred mare named Bronwen (she is a sweety), and a 10 year old QH/Morgan cross. There's something new to learn every day and my little granddaughter likes the horses, too!
Do you have any pets?
I have a cat and two dogs; one is a Jack Russell and the other is an Alaskan Malmute
