Elizabeth J. Chilcott commented on William Micklem's blog post 'William Micklem says WILL WE FACE FACTS REGARDING DRESSAGE AND JUMPING?'

I have less issue with the one on the gray as the reins were loose much of the time and the horse did not appear to be uncomfortable, but the bay with the double bridle made me somewhat sick.

Interestingly, i saw the same thing with the flying changes in the Sydney Olympics. It was the first time that flying changes were in the advanced test in Eventing and several people, whose horses were not ready(one assumes), opted to do a simple…

I also have to agree that the judging is a main source of the problem. You can use all kinds of tricks to create "leg movers". If the judge cannot (or will not) see that the movement is not coming from the use of the horse's back and…

Dr. Van Schaik was indeed one of the great classical trainers years ago. Two others from that era I would like to mention are Franz Rochovanski who had been Head Rider of the Spanish Riding School. Hilda Gurney credits Roch with her ability to get…

I would recommend any of the Alois Podhajsky books......"My horses , my teachers" is one. He was one of the last riding Directors of the Spanish Riding School and the one the Walt Disney Movie was about.
