Hank replied to Jocelyn's discussion 'Can You Critique This Picture?'
I think your position actually looks quite good. Your back is nice and flat and your head is up and not looking at your fence. It just looks like you might be jumping a little ahead of your horse. As this is such a small fence there's no need…

Hank replied to Mary H's discussion 'How do I tame a blast-o-canter? and bucking?'
Lunging with side reins is a great idea. When he's figured out his balance on the lunge, an exercise I've found useful for getting green horses to canter is to try going across the diagonal and ask for it just after you cross the center…

Gorgeous warmblood cross for sale

10 yr old, 17.3 hh DutchxTB very sadly offered for sale. New baby means I don't have the time that he deserves. Zack is a wonderful dressage horse with beautiful movement and amazing personality. He's always a barn favourite. A gentleman to handle. I haven't had the funds or the time over the past few years to show him too much but he competed at first level in the few shows I took him to and the judges loved him. He's very honest and and straight forward to ride and he always tries his heart…See More

Just thought I'd put my two cents in...I think you're getting some good advice but I also totally disagree that horses always are just biting to express their desire to play. There are many different reasons they bite and if you watch them…

Hank replied to Puzzle's discussion 'Getting my young horse to flex/work over the back/use hind leg'
Chambons are really great for teaching a horse that is kind of stuck to lower it's neck and stick its nose out. I don't use them as often as sidereins because I find they can teach a horse to go on its fourhand but it sounds like in your…

Hank replied to Puzzle's discussion 'Getting my young horse to flex/work over the back/use hind leg'
I agree with Geoffrey. I would not be concerned with your horse's head at all at this point. Just make sure you have a steady contact in both reins at all times and with a young horse that means making necessary adjustments quickly and…

Hank replied to Kathi's discussion 'Fear Factor'
I would agree with Bernd and Ari and might add that it's important for you to ride your horse as if he had never bucked you off. Visualize yourself being large and in charge as opposed to being careful with said steed. The more you think about…
