Hi, I'm Jade. I grew up playing with My Little Ponies and writing short stories about horse shows. Clearly that was an awesome springboard to an exciting career in journalism and marketing where I’ve worked with both international companies and WA icons, in and beyond the horse world.
Somehow, despite a lifetime of beautiful experiences with horses, I developed an intense fear that prevented me from fulfilling my riding dreams. I labelled myself one of those “nervous nellies” and often declared that “I was getting out of horses for good.”
Thankfully, the moments of connection that I’ve experienced with horses (mixed with a healthy dose of intellectual stubbornness) instead motivated me to search the world for solutions. I’ve learnt so much about dealing with my fears, along with developing horsemanship and riding skills that have changed the way I approach my unique equestrian journey.
A few years ago my Welsh Cob, Honi, came into my life as a yearling. A nervous rider and a young horse are traditionally considered a recipe for disaster. I won’t pretend we’re always an amazing, confidence-fuelled team, but I can promise you that she is my forever horse and has inspired within me the desire to always feel good when in her company. :)
