Hi there...glad you are able to do groundwork..it is such a joy and challenge for you. The stables will appreciate that you are able to teach them some new things. The pony will better and will have something new to learn :-)) Hope you are having lots of fun? I am sorry that you are so far away and I have so little spare time..It would be sooo great to talk with you and have you share tips. Ronin is in the very big paddock now and harder to catch...so I haven't done anything. It is shameful.
HOWEVER..before I catch the other horses (to teach on)..I am just now able to walk to him, "blow hello" into his nostrals, pat him ..lead him a little way...then I release him and walk away. I have done this three times now...so next time I will catch him and take him in. He watches me now when walk away....

Jana, you must be so excited about having a new foal in February. What is the foal's breed(s). It will be so nice to train the foal from the beginning. Do you take part in many competitions?? You are a very good rider. I wish I looked that good!!!

Hi Jana, nice to hear from you. Sorry you are not getting to ride a lot. That must be difficult as you probably ride a lot at home? Yes, not stables does groundwork. I think probably more groundwork, other than longing and long reining, is done in Europe. A percentage of people do Natural Horsemanship....mainly "games with your horse" more than "classical groundwork". Are you doing studying at the Canadian barn for a certification? or just visiting friends in the industry?Your English is good!! :-)..after all you speak another language and that ie great! I only speak English :-(

Welcome!!! Hope you had a good flight and you like the stables. (It looks very nice!). You will miss your horses at home? It would be nice to meet you ...but you are quite far from where I live. However...if you are planning a visit to see Toronto.(my mom and son live there..and I used to )..it is an hour away and you (and some new friends?) and myself and some friends could get together and talk horse. Just let me know. I am away on vacation between July 17th and July 27th...but any other time if you would like.

Hi Jana. It's Amanda. I have a question. Before I try to work my big horse (5yr unbroke 17.2h) I let him run around till he is more tired before I try to work with him. Do you agree this is right ...or should I take him to the arena and make him listen to me right away. He would be very difficult to work with if he doesn't run about first. I will roundpen him soon....but I will have to run him loose in the arena first as he twists a lot when he bucks and I am afraid he will put a leg through the round pen fence and break It!!!

I've met her a couple of times, and think she would probably recognize my name. She is very well known and is considered a very good rider and a nice person.

Hi..paddock VERY big. No way to run..he get away!! Also very muddy right now. I do know John Lyons and Monty Roberts and some Parelli methods. I think I will need to get him into roundpen?? He is timid. I MUST do groundwork. Thanks Jana
