Barn cats are worth their weight in gold, or mice, we have currently about 16 plus kittens. No mice though..I started off with two cats that I was quite attached to, but they sadly have disappeared and I am left with all their offspring, and their…

Excellent! I use snaffles on my paso's, they are trained to respond softly and yield laterally to soft pressure. I also practice the wild horse (natural) trim on my guys and don't have any issues with founder, or lack of gait because of…

My only American friend in Miami in the Paso fino business commented, "Things are getting better in the paso breed it seems. Alotta trainers using boots and snaffle bits on their horses!" Paso Fino (World) Spectrum Show was held in Miami…

enjoying the beautiful weather, though a tad windy (why are horses more difficult to ride in the wind?).

Check out Kuda store or Sycamore creek for columbian saddles. I have a Mesace which is a columbian and it is quite comfortable and fits my small gelding who is barely 14 hands and all of 800 lbs and my slightly bigger mare who is 14.2 and larger in…

Hi Karen, right now I'm using a light western saddle, made by American Saddlery. The skirt is 24" long & he has such a short back that it's too long. I've been looking around on the internet for something else, maybe a…

A Bit About Me and my Horse(s)
I have loved (been nuts about) horses since I was knee high, but never could persuade my parents to let me partake in any horsey activities. My big break came when I was 15 and we moved and my parents introduced me to an acquaintance that had a barn. What luck, it was even close to my new house and I spent every weekend there, mucking out stalls so that I could ride. That lasted for 3 years, and then I went off to college to become a Registered Nurse. That was 25 years ago and since then I had very little interactions with horses, only a longing. About 6 years ago, my second husband decided to become a horse logger and purchased a team of Belgians, that led to us selling our town' home and purchasing a small hobby farm.. Well you know the saying, once someone finds out you have a barn, you get all kinds of animals given to you, including horses. We now have 7 horses, oodles of barn cats (free, anyone?) and we have to work extra to pay for it all. I am seriously interested in trying Endurance with my Paso Fino's but I'm always stymied by our truck that never seems to run or the trailer, that needs new brakes and tires. Oh well, such is life.

Hi, thanks for the compliment! The black one in the photos is mine (though he is a tad sun-faded at the moment), and the others are his pasture mates. I am quite smitten by Canadians myself... and it seems to be contagious as now my boyfriend wants to get one! Yay! :)
It sounds like you have great horses too. I have a friend with a Paso - they are fun to ride (and very cute)... and Belgians are sweet. I tried vaulting on one years ago and he was so careful with kids, he was amazing.
