Horse Council BC (HCBC)
Horse Council BC is a membership-driven not-for-profit association representing the interests of the equine industry in all sectors throughout British Columbia. Tradition, strong values and superior hard work provided by our volunteers has made Horse Council BC the largest and most successful multi-discipline, multi-breed equine association in Canada.
Horse Council BC was established in 1980 to provide a coordinating body to serve all equestrian and equine interests except pari-mutual racing. Guided by the objectives of our constitution with representation on the Board of Directors from across the province and all FEI Sport disciplines, Horse Council BC serves members involved in all aspects of the horse industry.
Horse Council BC continues to grow each year with membership reaching over 21,000 in 2007. Horse Council BC actively represents the equine industry in agriculture, industry, sport, and recreation through education, grant funding, club support, government lobbying, liability insurance, and participant programs.
Recreation Program
Recreational riders/drivers in BC recognize the importance of protecting the right to ride. HCBC members continue to struggle to keep their riding facilities open, fight to keep trails for riding and defend the safety of riding on the roads. HCBC is a strong advocate for the recreational rider/driver and protecting what is important to them. HCBC is dedicated to upholding the standards by which many members strive to achieve for themselves and their horses.
Competition/Sport
HCBC is committed to offering the best possible service for competition organizers and competitors. We are the provincial sport body for Equine Canada and are responsible for the administration of over 400 sanctioned competitions a year in BC. We are the only province in Canada to have equestrian participation in the multi-sport BC Summer Games.
