- Though we've owned a horse (for my daughter) I've just leased a quiet 17.5 hh mare for me to ride (Yay)...my daughter is giving me lessons and I love living the dream! Thanks so much for your encouraging post entitled "Middle aged and older women who start riding"...I printed it and shared it with my daughter (who is 19) so as to give her a little insight into what I'm going through...that article really hit the nail on the head..thanks again
