Hi Sandy, Doing pretty good here. No, we did not get the snow storm here. Just a few flurries. Kinda cold -teens and 20's for the highs- but know it will get worse yet. I love spring and fall but when it comes to the harsher weather of steaming hot or freezing cold, I opt for the cold. At least I can add layers to survive the cold.....not much we can do to survive the hot. Can't take off all of the clothes and even if we did, it would still be hot!!! So, I try to not complain about the cold. I've still been able to spend around 3 hours most days at the barn. I actually was only there about 30 minutes tongiht when I stopped on my way home from a visit to my Moms which took about 5 hours. I'm always happier seeing him settled in for the night. Just gave him a few treats and kisses and peeked in on some other special horses before I headed on home.

It's almost 3a.m. here so I think I'd better head to bed.

What kind of work do you do that you work the grave=yard shift?

I saw the picture of the two of you that you have as your profile picture. Very pretty/handsome. I look forward to seeing a picture that shows all of your horse. I wasn't crazy about bays either, one of my last choices actually but fortunately I wasn't shopping for color. I think Cash and I are just right for each other.
Tell me more!

I've only been black & blue 3 times but only two were falls. The other was torn groin muscles from cantering before getting warmed up on a very cold day. Not too smart. I don't regret getting such a young horse cause I've learned so much I wouldn't have with a 'been there done that' sort of horse. If I'd gone with an older horse I wouldn't know what I missed so I'd have probably been happy either way. If I hadn't run into some of my issues I probably would not have gotten involved with the Parelli's' Their influence has added so much to our relationship & the fun we have.
I have not viewed the Get Started DVD that you have. I have the Level 1 & 2 and then an older pack of Level 2 which has the two stick riding lessons which helps riders not rely on a horses mouth but more on our seat and legs for giving the horse direction which I 'hope' to accomplish. I also have The Horse Behavior Set which is helpful in recognizing what horses are telling us with their body language
I have taken lessons from a few different people (one a new level 1 Parelli student but she was not certified to give Parelli RIDING lesson). I am having a lesson this week with a new fella that thinks he can help me by getting me more secure with my seat position. He is from India & used to instruct there in the Army school that had a great team & won national championships under his instruction. He has only been in the US a short time & is in the process of getting his vet license here. He trained riding & was a vet in India. I have a friend that highly recommended him so I figure it's worth a try. I want Cash to feel good when I'm on his back & to be able to stay out of his mouth. You probably think I'm making this up. LOL
I have a couple videos on YouTube that we did playing on the ground in an arena with a bunch of toys. We can do most of this off line now. I like having videos to watch so when I get discouraged I can review them and see how far we've come.
Please tell me more about you.

HI Sandy, I'm actually glad to see you are an adult. I thought you might be a teenager. Not that I have a problem with teen-agers~~I like them too. Not quite as much as horses and animals.....LOL.
You said in your first note you'd like to talk in person sometime. I do have a cell phone with lots of minutes available so we can easily talk on the phone anytime. I am not sure if this will post for anyone to see or not so I won't add my phone on here. I can do that via the private 'send a message' that only you can see.
Cash will be 10 in the spring just as I will have turned 60 (next month). I met Cash 7 years ago this month when I started taking lessons where he was in training & he was mine a few months later. Ignoring the theory that green on green makes black and blue. I started out a very nervous shakey rider determined to get over the fear. I can't say I'm totally over the fear but it's much much better and I'm thrilled to have Cash and be with horses. Things go great on the ground but once I get up in that saddle aliens start working on my brain.

HI Sandy, First off, WELCOME to Barnmice. It's alot of fun here and always lots of opinions and advice. Not always in agreement but most the time it is at worst respectful disagreement. Which is always good for gaining more knowledge. There isn't many Parelli fans on here.
How far are you into Parelli? I'd be glad to help you if I can. It has helped me in many ways but of course I am not a teacher. I do think it woiuld be great to be a Parelli instructor.
