I have been riding and loving horses for 45 years. My daughter also loves horses and rides, it's genetic! I am faced with conventional horse keeping and would like to see this change. I believe that a barefoot horse will be a healthier horse. Feeding grain is not what a horse was intended to eat. I believe horse caregivers should question archaic equine practices: their saddle fit, is your bit causing pain, are shoes really necessary? Learn how to tell if your horse's back is sore, feel their teeth, do they have sharp edges? How do you really care for horse's feet? Horse caregivers need to be more educated about what is good for the horse; it is not about the rider. Take classes, ask questions, join groups like this one, be informed. Love your horse and learn from them, they are our greatest teachers.
