Hi Kate,

I ride at Brandywine Spring South Stable at Midland N.C..  Debbie Barham Campbell, my teacher, runs a regular stable (not a therapeutic stable), I think I am her first MS patient.  If you want more information I'll give you her phone number, just ask me.  Debbie is a VERY good teacher and trains good riders of all ages.

Every MS patient has a different disease, with different symptoms.  I think I had my first MS attack around 55 years ago or so though I was not diagnosed until 1993.  Since I already knew how to ride (and I learned to ride with MS decades before I was diagnosed) I have been able to ride without a leader and side spotters, at the therapeutic stables they have 3 people to a horse for beginner handicapped riders.

I was on a trip this weekend.  Sometimes I'd get out of the car staggering and REALLY depending on my two canes and on the verge of collapse, but then I'd hear Debbie, my riding teacher, telling me to get my head and shoulders right, and then I could get my body aligned correctly and walk decently even if not as well as normal.  I wish your sister could ride, riding is the only reason I can still walk on my own two feet even if I do have to use canes!
