Oh one more thing.....What happened to the natural head carriage? You know top line level from head to tail at a nice trot/jog, canter/lope. (talking E/W Pleasure class here) That's what I look for when I'm judging and the horse has to be…

I am a western judge, EC Recorded Steward, and a Show Manager so I get to talk to many judges and stewards, some of them top notch. But a lot of this horse show stuff boils down to money especially in the upper categories. People use and do the…

I agree eileen, even some of the western shows are agonizing, the 'peanut rollers' tick me off. I guess you could be in the winners circle with a super long shank, and a twisted bit eh? I still love to go to the either really small shows…

Cindy, What do you mean by the term 'back to front"? The whole horse? I have ridden some one reined with a rope halter and then two reined with a rope halter and had good results with that. My horse got his basic training from a gentle…

It sounds like the bitless bridle is a really good thing for horses who have been trained the "old fashioned way" (heavy hands and bits) too help them trust again. They seem to be great too to teach "softer hands" to the first…

I love that Barbara!! We are like that here too. I teach everyone to ride back to front. Way to go, I love that!

Exactly....light connection! Riding forward driven from your seat and legs, hands consistant using imperceptible finger tips and wrist for direction. Thank you Jan, watching you ride is like poetry in motion! In western we get criticized for too…

I totally agree with you Stephanie!!! It's definitely not about the tools we use but the hands that use the tools. We must train our hands to be barely there so to speak and use the rest of our body to communicate to the horse, for example body…

Did anyone make it to the trade show in uxbridge this past weekend? I couldn't make it(car trouble) but I'm curious to how it went. Does everyone here make time for special horse events, or are you finished with that now?

Hey Stacy,
I love riding "Clyde" he is a really big boy, but I like having a substantial horse under me. LOL Wow you have 6 horses busy girl, and you have a percheron mare wonderful. I just love the draft horses personality they are so willing and forgiving. I take Clyde into the regular lessons he does w/t/c and jumps as well, cross rails and small verticals. Drafties can be very versatile. I hope you have a great time with your mare.

Hey Stacy, Can you add some pics of your horses. I don't know much about Rocky Mtn. Horses but the ones I have seen were very pretty.
sounds like the big one is your baby?! Do you call him Tiny? LOL

Hi Stacy, Anne Gage introduced me to Barnmice. I think I read that there are people from 149 countries joined on Barnmice. I might be confused on that. I have read so much the past couple of days on the internet and some is getting intermingled in my poor brain.
Thanks for the compliment to Cash. I did not name him. His registered name is He's Casually Dun. So the breeder called him Cass. But when she took him to the trainer, they thought she said Cash and it just never got corrected. I liked Cash better then Cass so I kept that name. I call him Cashious fondly but never Johnny Cash. We do joke that he is our only 'Cash' left. And he is the color of a shiney new penny.
The bugs are just starting to come out here. Cash was quite annoyed with them this evening when I was letting him do some lawn grazing.
How neat to have six equine in your family. I'm thrilled to have gotten my one. But I do tend to get attached to horses where I board that don't get much attention from their owners for one reason or another.
I'd love to hear more about your horses.
