Ann and Anthony Turner, who own Witsend Farms in Abbotsford, are the most knowledgeable people I have met since getting into riding a few years ago. They have been very caring and understanding and did everything they could to help my first horse Bond before he passed away in October. Within a few minutes of first seeing my horse they showed special care and understanding for him, detailing the injuries he had suffered earlier in his life from previous owners. Until then nobody actually said “don’t jump your horse because he’s injured.” That included many Pony Club members, two vets, and Pony Club testers who did not understand that my horse would not jump because he had a lot of injuries from a previous owner that gave him what Anthony called “the worst neck I’ve ever seen.” Within ten minutes Ann and Anthony showed me that they knew more than all those other people, who had said absolutely nothing about the fact that my old pony had probably been cast in his stall a long time before I bought him. They did the best they could for him until he passed away, and were very kind and understanding about his sudden death. His health had been declining very suddenly, ever since he received the west nile shot. For my next horse, I chose to buy a four year old Thoroughbred because I wanted a horse that has potential to do what I want to do in the future. They offered to check my new horse’s mind and body, and approved him, after cautioning me about the amount of training and work he will need. They have also helped me find the right diet for my new horse, and they have themselves helped to train and work with Angus as well. Ann and Anthony give horses the best treatment possible at their farm which includes Anthony’s chiropractic and Ann’s diet muscle treatments and exercise. Angus gained over 120 pounds at Witsend, and right away began thriving off of Ann’s well prepared diet. Ann’s style of riding is Classical Equitation, which I’m interested in. Ann is an amazing trainer. She is calm, friendly, loves what she does, always shows caring for the animals and also knows how to direct the animals without using excessive violence or driving the horse crazy. Instead of shouting, both Ann and Anthony know how to figure the horse out right away, and then provide excellent training and direction to the horse. That’s really important especially when you’re working with a young Thoroughbred who is very sensitive. Needless to say their first concern is that every rider is safe and knowledgeable and understands their horse and treats their horse with respect. Not only are Ann and Anthony very knowledgeable about horses, they love the horses that they care for. I would highly recommend Ann as a trainer and both Ann and Anthony as rehab specialists for horses in need of muscular-skeletal care.

HEllo Emilie,

Thank you for your kind words and compliments about our care of Bond and then Angus. You know that nothing gives me more pleasure than seeing a horse and owner grow close as friends, and enjoy each other's company as much as I enjoy my horse's company! I only want to spread my knowledge gained over so many years, and pass on what I have learned so that others may benefit from my experience. Horses fill our lives in such special ways, they are our greatest teachers, and they enrich us beyond words. I have them to thank for so much joy, and I know you and Angus will grow in understanding and love for each other as time passes and you get to know each other well. All the best, see you soon, Ann.
