...and IthatI is why I have horses.

Little guy is going to be coming up to live with me in a couple months, so, seemed like a good time to start the journey towards loading into trailers. He leads about anywhere just fine, but my trainer suggests that we teach him to get on himself, which means sending him into the trailer. Well, he hasn't done anything like that yet, he's just a BABY (ask him!). So, I took the trailer down last night, to find out that there was a snowfall warning for today. No problem park the trailer, do some work with him anyway.

So, Mom had done a bit of work on sending him, and I did a bit if work, then it was on to the stall. Hadn't been in a stall for months, many many months. It was about 10 minutes before he went in. That's pretty darned good, I think. No big histrionics, I mean he wasn't going to just DO what we wanted right off the bat or anything, but, well, he's a pretty good kid, generally.

This morning, now Lethbridge was in the snowfall warning, so, I needed to head home. We stripped the paddock, bedded it and decided to do a bit of work with Havoc. I think it was about 5 seconds and he was in the stall, all by himself, discovering the bucket of goodies in there. Once he was done, I turned him (still outside the stall), and he came out. Holy crap, good boy. Half way to trailer loading!

So, I headed home and with nary a flake on the horizon, out to see little Maggie. My trainer's dad had done some work with her ground driving (earning her a rarely used compliment ... "perfect"). This is the mare I bailed off of just over a week ago, and still have huge bruises from. She was wonderful. One little spanking, but very very good work. After a half an hour, I called it done, what do you do when your horse is awesome? There were cookies!

So, here I am, pondering going to get groceries. Still no snow. Pondering a delightful day with my kids who make me so darned happy. Nothing like the contentment of a good day at the barn. And *that* is why I have horses!
