Not sure where the last month or so has gone but it's gone and past.

Spent one weekend in Toronto helping my best friend at a science fiction/fantasy convention Ad-Astra. The committee needed warm bodies to help run the Green Room where the guests of honour hang out away from the masses and the media. While I do read sci-fi/fantasty at times it was interesting to see the many genres and how other people get as into a topic as I do horses. Got to attend a Writer's Workshop and can apply many of the tricks and tips learned to any type of writing.

Then the next weekend (last weekend) I spend at the Equine Affiar in Ohio. Attended a couple of seminars/clinics as well as checking out the trade floor booths. Got to meet up with an Endurance friend for dinner on Friday night just outside of Columbus, unfortunately another friend couldn't join us. Sunday we visited a farm where I had sold one of my Hackney Horses to - they run a stallion collection station and Standardbred breeding/training facility. I haven't seen Black Mariah since she was 5 months old other than in pictures and now as a 6 year old I can honestly say she turned out better than I imagined.

At the farm I manage we've had 4 of the 5 foals expected and the final one due on April 23 but i think the mare will go late. 3 colts and one filly. One colt didn't survive past 5 weeks - seizures, etc happening since birth, it was a mircle he lived so long.

My own mares are due in mid-May so we are eagerly awaiting those foals. I think the ground might be dry enough to hack out my endurance mare this weekend. Farrier putting shoes on today hopefully and even more hopefully they don't get sucked off with the knee deep mud.
