Still waiting on surgery for my gall stones and gall bladder to be removed and have had some health issues tied to that - my iron is rock bottom, as well as a few other things not where they should be- explains the great need I have for naps! LOL Hopefully got that problem straightened out and in a few weeks, have a consult with my surgeon and then hopefully surgery. Until then, I am okay for riding as long as I stop when it hurst (like that will happen) but until my iron is up to specs, I have little energy - life is such a roller coster at times!
I must admit to enjoying my first real year of no foals - sleeping each night is wonderful but I do miss those babies! My two unexpected ones from last year are doing very well. The orphan Alex got gelded on Tuesdday and is doing very well - no more biting and has his brain back! The other one was gelded at 4 months - just in case. He is finally weaned from his mother - was a very trying time I tell you. He is also growing taller than we had anticipated. Both string tested went to 15.3 so I assumed they were off - but appears not as he is 14.3 as a yearling and still growing! Going to suit short old me so well! The orphan is also growing great - looks like he will get to about 14 hands - a far cry from the 38 pound baby I raised.
The rings are looking good - building more jumps so the place looks fancy. Need to finish up the one line of fence in the one ring, repair the front of the other and then save the money for my jumping ring! The students are enjoying the new mounts especially old Molly - she is so rock solid and great for getting over stuff but boy are the kids happy to move off of her when they get their nerve back onto something with some get up and go!
Had hoped to do some shows but this darn surgery is putting a real dent in my time line so I am working on next year - going to have a very full calander since I missed this year!
Off to the barn - the rain is gone, the sun is out and the wind seems to be dying down - need to prep for the nights lessons! Take care all............
