8 y/o 16 hh Thoroughbred JC name Court Composer.  His last race was in June 2014, and I got him in July.  He has quite a bit of energy and quirkiness to him, but he means well.  We are boarding at the closest barn with an indoor, which is an all western barn.  The owners are amazing and loving, but they do not like Mossberg due to his unpredictability, and high energy.  The guy barn owner has tried to talk me into selling him numerous times, saying he is concerned the horse was injured in his previous career and that is why he is so "crazy."  I think he is just scared, and a little worried for my well being.  Whatever the case, after he tried again today, I told him his wife helped me and talked me through riding him and he seemed shocked.  I told him if I keep or sell him, I have to ride him.  It's my job to figure out what is good for him, and what he is best suited for.  I adopted him, it's my job to hold up my end of the deal.  He is a Christian man, so I told him some people need saving, and then there are some horses that need saving.  My guy needs some saving, and I promised my horse that I would do that.  So the constant battle with that, and the fact Mossberg can get a little anxious and spazzy, has not helped the situation.  Starting yesterday I am putting him in a routine work schedule to keep him calm, and focused so we can see if he will be suitable for what I am wanting, or if I need to train him to do something else.  I feel great after today's ride, I just needed that extra voice to help me focus on what I am doing, and not what could happen.  He does have a bone chip on his front left fetlock that causes him no pain from what I and the vet have seen.  He will also be going to training with a very experienced rider and trainer in May, so I am trying to get him rideable and focused for her.  Here's to a productive next month and a half!
