Canadian Eventing High Performance Committee comments on David O’Connor’s application to coach the US Eventing Team in 2013

Ottawa, ON—The Canadian Eventing Team’s International Technical Advisor, David O’Connor, has submitted his application to coach the US Eventing Team commencing in 2013.

O’Connor is held in very high regard for his work with the Canadian Eventing Team, and his five years of service has transformed the high performance program, and left an indelible mark with Team silver medal performances at both the 2007 Pan American Games and the 2010 World Equestrian Games.

Chef d’équipe Graeme Thom said, “David has been in communication with us as he approached his application process with the United States. His commitment to our riders, our team and our sport organization finds us filled with appreciation and we wish David the best in his future endeavours.”

The Canadian Eventing Committee (CEC) would like to confirm, with the full support of the High Performance Committee, that O’Connor will remain in his role with the Canadian Evening Team through the 2012 Olympic Games. The CEC is confident that his professionalism and dedication will not only help us garner further international success but also ensure a smooth and productive transition for the years to come.”

Grit High, chair of Eventing High Performance, added, “We are looking forward to this year’s Pan American Games and the 2012 Olympics, and are thankful that David will be in a leadership role.”

Le comité haute performance de Concours complet canadien commente la candidature de David O'Connor au poste d'entraîneur de l'équipe de concours complet des États-Unis en 2013

Ottawa, Ontario, le 19 janvier 2011 — Le conseiller technique international de l’équipe canadienne de concours complet, David O’Connor, a soumis sa candidature en qualité d’entraîneur de l’équipe de concours complet des États-Unis, à compter de 2013.

Le travail de O’Connor auprès de l’équipe canadienne de concours complet suscite la plus haute considération et ses cinq années de service ont transformé le programme de haute performance et laissé une très forte empreinte. O’Connor a notamment mené l’équipe à deux médailles d’argent, soit aux Jeux panaméricains de 2007 et aux Jeux équestres mondiaux de 2010.

« David a communiqué avec nous lorsqu’il a pensé se présenter pour le poste aux États-Unis, » a dit le chef d’équipe Graeme Thom. « Son engagement auprès de nos cavaliers, notre équipe et notre organisme nous a tous comblés et nous lui souhaitons le plus grand succès pour ses projets. »

Le comité de Concours complet canadien (CCC) tiens à confirmer, avec le plein appui du comité de haute performance, que O’Connor demeurera en poste auprès de l’équipe canadienne de concours complet jusqu’à la fin des Jeux olympiques de 2012. Le CCC a bon espoir que son professionnalisme et son dévouement nous mèneront à nouveau sur la voie de la réussite internationale, facilitant ainsi une harmonieuse transition vers l’avenir. »

La présidente du comité de haute performance Grit High a pour sa part tenu à ajouter : « Nous nous réjouissons à l’idée de participer cette année aux Jeux panaméricains, ainsi qu’aux Jeux olympiques en 2012, et nous remercions David de demeurer aux commandes de l’équipe. »
