My barn, Deerfield Farm, is doing this great contest for the riding school that I had to get involved in. The activity is a Stall Decorating contest. Since the holiday season is upon us, everyone picks a stall and decorates it however they please.

So far the stalls look amazing with tons of garland, mistletoe, plastic snowflakes and candy canes. Really the tackier the better! Everyone gets a prize for decorating, but one will get a grand prize. The judge is a friend of the farm's who doesn't know any of the horses and therefore won't be biased. I'm not part of the competition, but I wanted to get involved in the fun.

The inspiration for my stall was Hanukkah because I am the only Jew at my farm. So right away blue and silver popped into my head. After having a terrible time at a dollar store trying to find "Hanukkah-y" decorations I went to an Israeli store not far from my house. I ended up with silver Hanukkah gelt (chocolate in the shape of coins), menorah cut-outs, dreidel cut-outs and a Happy Hanukkah banner. I also used blue and silver garland and ribbon from the dollar store. The outcome is one tacky mess! :)

I love my stall and the others are coming together so nice. One girl wrapped part of her stall like a present. The winner will be chosen on Dec. 20 and I can't wait to see who wins the grand prize. I will try and put up some photos in the next week or so.
