We must spend more time walking in the shoes of our horses to realize how we can bring a better quality of life to our equine friend. Through the process of finding a better quality of life for our horses can we find a higher consciousness and a better quality of life for ourselves.

I want people to love horses because of their spirit, depth of character and the magnetic connection we share with them rather than the service we expect from them. What stands in the way of a love connection is expecting a horse to do what he is told and thinking that we have a right to force him to perform for us whether he wants to or not.

It is all about taking more time to develop a connection that would create a desire in a horse to want to fulfill our goals. The real magic and dance we share with horses, what I like to call the Centaur Connection, is achieved from the enjoyment we share with a horse and that the horse also enjoys being with us. The enjoyment of the journey is what helps us to make the right decision to reach our goals in any activity we want to share with our horse.

In the part of the world I live in, I regularly see people more interested in reaching their dreams as a way to achieve self-fulfillment instead of receiving self-fulfillment from the journey, and milking the moment and each lovely step for all its worth. Approaching life in the moment in this way is when life gets rich.

For all the people who are on the cutting edge of social evolutionary change for horses, let’s not be silent. Instead, speak of your personal journey and of the connection that you share with our intelligent and loving horses, and show others how to better provide for the horses they love.

Remember, don’t get lost in the cruelty of man or in our self serving needs but rather make an effort to speak of this new connection we are sharing with horses right here and now. In speaking from the heart, people will listen and this will create a new consciousness and responsibility to all things on Earth for the path we share with horses.

The last thing I would like to share is what horses have taught me personally. What I have witnessed from watching horses in nature is that horses have an ability to know where community herd rules need to be adhered to by the individual and when to bend the community laws to help the individual’s needs. From this I learned how to be a leader by adjusting my leadership communication so I could develop the performance of the horse and at the
same time deepen the bond.
