Try this list on for size...

Track Manager

The track manager is the queen ant. He or she makes sure that all parts of this operation run smoothly and that an exciting program of racing is presented to the public.

Race Secretary
The race secretary manages the track's racing operation. They structure and oversee the day-to-day program of races and keep the track manager, horsemen and fans happy.

Judges
The judges act as the "referees" of the race and make sure that the races are run according to the rules.

Paddock Judge
The paddock is a special holding barn where all the horses that are scheduled to races as well as grooms, trainers and jockeys or drivers (harness racing) must report. The paddock judge has complete control of all paddock activities.

Starter
The starting of the races is actually a two person job and an important one at that!

Field Representative
The field representative inputs the results of each race as the night progresses. The field representative usually works for the governing body (e.g. Standardbred Canada or the Racing Commission).

Charter
The charter views the progress of each race and after recording the details of each horse's performance on the official chart, gives the information to the judges and the field representative.

Parade Marshal
Some tracks hire a parade marshal whose job is to lead the post parade, assist any driver (harness racing)or rider who is having difficulty with a horse and to help catch any loose horse on the racetrack.

Track Maintenance
A racetrack needs upkeep. Electrical, plumbing, carpentry and mechanical repairs are regularly needed. Janitorial and track work must be done daily.

Race Announcer
Every track employs an announcer who "calls" the races and passes on information throughout the race program over a public announcer system.

Photographer
The photographer takes photos of winning horses at the finish line and in the Winner's Circle.

Video Production
This department video tapes all races for fans to view at the track and simulcast locations.

Journalist
As hired by trade and sport magazines, sport sections of the newspapers, association news...not to mention web casts, pod casts and so much more....

Mutuel Clerks

Mutuel clerks sell and cash wagers from the bettors.

Veterinarian

The racing commission employs a vet to look over all the horses before they race to ensure that they are healthy and safe to do so.

Laboratory
for blood tests, drug tests etc - usually a private firm working under contract at the track - lab assistants and lab tech jobs available here.

Trainer
Responsible for the training and welfare of the horses -

Exercise rider / out rider

this person can also be the trainer in some cases and is responsible for keeping horses in tip top, race ready shape. Out riders are the ones who accompany the racehorses to the track (on horseback)

Groom
Barn help, stable chores and grooming, some riding opportunities for the right personnel.

Jockey
yup - you guessed it, the one who rides in the races. DUH!

Driver

same as above but for harness racing

Farrier
need I explain?

Not to mention food and beverage, casino employees, cashiers and tellers, guest services, security, parking lot attendants, shuttle bus drivers.......PLUS, there are the support barns who provide breeding services, transportation, training, breaking, equine rehab services, massage therapy etc etc..

SO if you have considered a career in racing - take a look at this list. It might just inspire you.
