Hey everyone! I would like to start my blog off with a bit about myself. I am not perfect, but these are MY beliefs and the way I do things. OK, lets start out with the basics. . . I am 13, and so is my best friend, Kate. Kate is a 15.2 hand sorrel Quarter Horse. Kate was a broodmare until she was 10, then she was sold and trained. However, when i got her, we were told she had been a ranch horse all her life. I guess I should have noticed. Anyway, we have been together a year, and have improved remarkably! I knew she would be a challenge, but I sill went through with it. I will tell you the rest of our story another day. So yeah. I have been riding about a year and a half now. Recently, (since Christmas of 2012)I have started this type of  "training" that uses only positive reinforcement. I was inspired by this WONDERFUL girl named Mosie Trewhitt. Look her up on Facebook, or look her up on Instagram (@littlepistolannie). She is my idol! I look up to her each and every day. The type of training isn't really training, it is more of  way of life. You basically grow a bond with your horse, and treat them as if you were their friend. No whips, no spurs, and eventually you go tackless. So far, I have ridden tackless on Kate once, and Wilbur once. We have walked, trotted, and cantered in sync before, too.  We are also beginning some trick training! Kate can bow and almost backup on command. Next post will be all about Mr. Pony... that will be a long one.

                                                             Love,

                                                                   Sarah
