Sept 21
Today we went to the venue for credentials and
uniforms and that took
most of the morning. The uniforms are really
nice. We rode this
afternoon and practiced handing off bottles
(there are a lot of new
crew members here now and Becky wants to
make sure everybody can
handle giving and taking the water bottles).
Ellyn and I rode about
8.5 miles, mostly canter, and I think
it is time to start backing off
and just keep the horses loose. It
was 94 degrees today, so pretty
hot, but they felt great. It is
supposed to cool off before Sunday.
Apparently everyone will be
riding with GPSs (like in Malaysia) and
they are planning on people
being able to monitor where competitors
are on course. There will be
real time monitors here so our staff will
be able to monitor where
we (and the UAE and French teams) are, and
the WEG website will be
reasonably accurate too (they think 20 minutes
lag time). Jim
Masterson got here today and has started working on the
horses.
Harmon fell asleep while he got his massage…Rev appeared
rather
miffed to miss out, but he should get to her
tomorrow.=
