May I suggest that you avoid, as much as is possible given your feelings of elation, any attempt to share your horsey triumphs with non-horse people. For the most part my experience has been that their eyes kind of glaze over and they check out. When they come back they generally start talking about something different altogether. A tremendous disappointment when you'd like to see people jump up and down with you in excitement.
Yup, share only with people who will "get it" -- boyfriend, select friends and family members, and on Barnmice which is, of course, the perfect venue.
Congrats again! May you have many happy rides together!!!
Heehee... upon rereading the comments I realised that the first part of my last comment applies equally to my boyfriend and my horse! :D
I am fortunate that my boyfriend actually does understand why I have been giddy since that first ride, especially since he has been there for the journey leading up to it. My friends on the other hand... well, even many of my horsey friends had reactions similar to the one immortalised above by my immense artistic talent. *lol* ;)
Thanks! Yes, I am quite smitten... and he seems to enjoy my company too (something that I appreciate immensely). :D
Trying to share the news of our first ride with non-horsepeople has been an 'interesting' experience. They don't seem to quite get the significance of that first ride. Thank goodness for Barnmice! :)
