Toni Thompson presents Andrea Bresee with the Toni Thompson 'Spirit of Dressage' Award

Perhaps no one was more surprised than Andrea Bresee when her name was announced, in front of a group of 50 attendees at Toronto CADORA's Annual General Meeting, as the the recipient of the 2008 Toni Thompson "Spirit of Dressage" Award. "I didn't get to prepare a proper speech," remarked Andrea the day after receiving the $350 bursary and plaque from the award's namesake, Toni Thompson.

Members of the Toronto CADORA Executive formed the committee which ulimately selected the winner. "The vote was close," notes Dorothy McDonall, club President, about the two nominations under consideration, "but in the end it came out in Andrea's favour."

The Toni Thompson “Spirit of Dressage” Award was originally introduced in 1987 to honour one of the club’s most dedicated members at the time, Toni Thompson. The $350 bursary is awarded to a person (rider, supporter, coach) who demonstrates dedication, performance, merit and devotes positive energy to the betterment of the sport of Dressage in this area.
