in my experience 5 star told me to take my Toronto Semen to Roxy because I only had 2 breeding doses and they were not going to split it up the way Roxy would. the way they do it is that they breed the mare right before she ovulates and then the next day with what ever semen they have left over say 1 dose (straw) Roxy waits till the mare has ovulated then she puts the semen in deep horn insemination. no we were not successful with maggie but I did receive the semen late in the season and yo uknow they shorten there heat cycles and we decided to hold off and save to last dose for this year and try again. if I had stayed with 5 star I would have no semen left and possibly no foal either. they were successful with my shipped cooled that came from the states but 5 star has a way of flushing the crap out of your mare and charging you everytime they have to do it. you are better off buying your semen through www.superiorequinesires.com and getting jen or someone that is shipping from there to ship it back it is less expensive that way. on that site your guys semen is 750 per breeding dose which generally holds 3 straws. now this is my experience not my money. it is not cheaper to go frozen it can range anywhere from 800 - 1500 to breed on 1 cycle and do not keep your mare there for 30 days bring her there on day 3 of her heat and pick her up after she ovulates if you take her home after 30 days of being in foal she could abort it is risky to have them travel you then bring her back on day 14 -18 for a preg check, day 14 if you are checking for twins. but a horse will only twin if she has a super long heat and you have to keep breeding her. Roxy would just pinch the twin off. this is only my opionion I myself would like to learn how to do it and I need to be better with my ultra sound machine.

thought you might like it keeps you in touch with the rest of the horsey world. Don't forget to look at the stallion service auction. I know you want to breed with frozen this year check out the different vets and what there conseption rate is Roxy is good she knows what she is doing, maybe we can lutilize our mares at the same time and I can take your mare when mine goes. I have one breeding dose to use on Maggie my ER mare I am breeding her to Toronto early spring. let me know not sure what the cost will be depends on your mare and how long she has to stay at the clinic for.
