The Icelandics have a "gait" like gaited horses. They can move naturally in this gait, but what is seen in the video is more or less "forced" gait.

sorry but do icelandic ponies naturally move like this, like that trot in other videos, i never saw this before now

thats a good video, i think it shows how one thing can make a big difference, and the ponies are soooo cute!

That's what we're trying to do, educate people about the problems. Unfortunately in this breed, it is in the show world and that's the way people ride in Iceland and in Europe, and it's supported by the Icelandic registry in this country :-(

Education, education, education!

Hopefully we'll see the Icelandic Horse doing it's natural gaits some day!

What can the average person do about this? Perhaps if one person at a time were to speak up whenever we witness abuse in ANY discipline we could make a difference.
