It would have been interesting to hear him discuss such things.

I am wondering if quarter cracks stem from the dorsal-palmer balance of the hoof being out of equilibrium.

Can anyone speak to this?

OFA Convention was a huge success and Ian McKinley was a highlight for sure!

Ian McKinley gave a wonderful seminar at the Ontario Farrier's Association Annual Meeting last weekend. Such an education to listen to his stories and experiences and to see the movies and photos he has taken - some of the before and after shots were incredible.
If you get a chance to see him - I recommend you do so!

This man has 1/4 crack repair down to an artform! I dont know of many farriers who can do this kind of work.

What an excellent video. It is great to see the process and the results. I'd love to see the hoof 3 months later too. I wonder if any "regular" horse farriers (not on the track) do this procedure. Anybody had experience with it?
