I don't think the rider has too much to worry about regarding balance. At this stage of the game and what I saw you are fine.
Excel has lots of potential. He moves nice and seems like he has a great disposition and want to work attitude. He also seems very willing to please. He is doing exactly as you ask.
I would carry with me a 36" Dressage whip or bat so when you ask for more collection you don't lose your forward.
Don't be afraid to ask more out of him. He looks like he will be fine if you ask more out of him.
