Robert Dover: How the Collected Walk Should Feel

The feeling of the collected walk is probably one of the most misunderstood feelings in dressage. It is easy to get into the walk, take a deep breathe and relax, but in reality the walk needs to be ridden every step of the way, carefully, just like every other movement in dressage. In this video, Olympic Team Coach, Robert Dover talks about what the collected walk should feel like when you are correctly riding your horse forward and through, onto the bit. This is a great example of how to make magic happen from the very first steps when you pick up the reins, now, off to work you go!

This video was filmed at the Robert Dover Horsemastership clinic in Wellington, Florida in 2016.
