Thoughts on the humour in this video?

I'll say up front that I am all for banning the carriage horses in NY, so anything different that gets a bit of attention is alright by me.

I'm with Allen on this one.  Don't get me wrong, conditions in NYC can be tough for any animal, humans included!  But the carriage horses I've seen in NYC looked:

Well fed, groomed, shod and harnessed.

Bored.

They looked consistently in better shape than the cart horses I saw in Chile and Uruguay 50 years ago, and those horses were pretty well kept considering the poverty of their owners (compared to us.)

The carriage horses did not look in any worse shape than the NYC police horses, they weren't as good a horse as the police horses but they looked just as well cared for.

EVERY living creature, human, horse, dog, cat, pigeons hawks, even rats need to get out of NYC during the great heat.  Was the horse trough empty of water because, to cut costs, NYC stopped having them filled?  Just wondering.

The conditions for horses in NYC are probably better than at any time of history.  Not ideal, but as long as the horses get vacations during the year outside of NYC, the carriage horses may be better off than many humans living in the worst parts of NYC.

I will cheerfully sign any petition about the absolutely horrible and inhumane conditions for the carriage and cart horses in many areas of South America, Africa and Asia.  THOSE horses desperately need help, covered in sores, lame, badly shod, badly fitting tack, no vet care, regularly and brutally whipped, with no rest periods, and 3/4 starved to death.  THOSE horses would think they had died and gone to heaven if they ended up as a NYC carriage horse, with many, many people reporting every incidence of abuse.

Hi Allen,

To each his own, but I am in no way at all influenced by PETA's information - or anyone else's information.

I go entirely by what I have personally witnessed.  Someone else might see the same scenes that I have seen in NY and not be bothered, but I have to go by my own values - not PETA's or anyone else's - just my own moral compass.

From everything I have witnessed personally through the years, in my opinion, those horses should not be pulling carriages through the streets of N.Y.

Whoa.

I just went to the video by PETA and there is false information being given.

For instance that horses do not get the right sleep because some cannot lay down.........horses primarly sleep STANDING up.........

If NY wants better conditions for the horses, [which the horses are entitled too] then provide the proper site....Damn give me a break....I could build a nice facility for them in Central Park that could earn income for the city as a tourist attraction...............

I hate PETA's guts for the fraudulent presentations they are always making...........they have ZERO integrity

Well all I gotta say it appear to be one sided story telling.

I have known charriage operators and their horse WERE NOT abused.

If NY has problems than fix those problems.............this sounds like a PETA propoganda program.
