Thanks for the note. I have the DVD of the rode that you talk about Laurn doing. That was very touching. I'm sure seeing that was very neat. When I saw her live in Florida last fall I was very impressed.
You are much better at remembering names then I am.
Yes, Silka is the lady I was talking about.
Keep enjoying!

Hi Shirley:

I have seen the lady from Europe...have watched a few videos on her...she never ceases to amaze me...believe her name is Silke, but I could be mistaken. I think she is from Germany, but the main thing is I certainly do agree with you they are absolutely awesome together and truly dedicated. And Lauren Barwick...I can't even put into words what an awesome, inspiring, remarkable young woman she is as well...truly amazing and as Silke...truly dedicated as well.

It was my priviledge and good fortune for Mom and I to be able to meet and talk with her at Savvy Conference 2005. I must admit it started out awkwardly....and at the time, I wanted the earth to open up and swallow me. At the moment we met...there were a few young people sitting in golf carts visiting. I believed them to be Pat's staff as there were several staff in golf carts giving people rides to where they needed to go. I approached them and Lauren....I did not know who she was at the time....happened to be the closest. I asked her if she could give Mom & I a ride to the big tent as it was less than a year since Mom's heart surgery and the elevation was getting to her breathing a bit.

Lauren kind of looked in the back of her cart...and said sure I think there is room here. As I followed her eyes....I noticed her wheelchair!! I was mortified to say the least....and embarrassed beyond belief and apologized profusely!! She is a very gracious young lady!! She just said not to worry...it happens all the time and told us to get in. We chatted with her a bit and listened to her story. She told us she had seen Pat & Linda I think it was in B.C....and approached them as to whether they could give her some techniques to carry on the sport she so loved. They invited her to their Colorado ranch for 2 weeks to see what they could work out. She said....apparently I am going to be the star of the show tonight and I'm not so sure about that!!

That, I gathered was her first appearance there. Let me tell you, when she came out and rode Pat's horse Magic, there was not a dry eye in the house!!! Not even Pat's!! And her speech aftewards....man.....whew....my eyes water just now as I am remembering!! To use her words..."it was magic"!! We happened to meet up with her again in the airport going home and chatted a bit more.

After her speech Pat encouraged the crowd and Savvy members to help her out on her road to the Olympics. I have followed her and knew that she did achieve her dream...read the article in the "Savvy Times".

I wish I could have seen her Olympic ride...I am sure it was as wonderful as she is!!

Thanks for sharing.

Hi Kathy and Grandma Teddy! Have you ever seen the lady in Europe that does great things with the Parelli program from a golfcart type thing, It is also very inspiring. She has a Fresian that she plays/works with and they are absolutely awesome to watch.
And have you seen the gal from Canada that rides in the Olympics for Canada in the special classes for people with physical challenges. She won in China two years ago against all kinds of problems coming upon her. She just doesn't give up!!!! She does not have use of her lower body. I saw her perform her Olympic ride when we went to a Parelli show in Florida last fall plus there is a couple DVD's out with her included. When I saw her ride dressage live, her horse tripped and fell forward onto his knees and she (Lauren, I think) started to fall forward but as the crowd gasped in fear for them, she somehow caught herself and she and her horse gained balance and composier quickly and easily and went on to finish their ride.

Grandma Teddy,
Kathy has every right to be proud of you. You took the best of a system and made a wonderful bond with your horse.
Keep on riding, the horses will remind you who you are and what you have accomplished.
Just awesome!!!!

Oh my goodness.....I see one of my comments is just about the same as my blog...blog a little bit longer..!!! Sorry everyone....as I said new at this.. BUT..I will learn and get better.....promise you. As another little footnote....I do forward everyone's comments to Mom. I don't think she has joined this yet because as I mentioned she is in the beginning stages of dementia now and gets a little mixed up!! Awhile back I was helping her clear out a bunch of groups that she had joined throughout the years as she was getting so many e-mails and it sometimes becomes confusing. Also, some she had no interest in anymore and didn't remember them. Next time I am out there I will see if she wants me to help her join.....but if not please keep the comments coming as in her words..."she is absolutely tickled pink" to read them!! Thanks everybody!!

OOOPS....don't know where my comment went so I will try it again. Sorry.....new at this... Thanks Donna, you have many more years of riding and fun to enjoy and bond with all your pals. I don't know if you read my blog....and you don't have to...but it is about an incident that shows how tight Mom & Bribon have bonded!! My very first blog I might add....you and your horses too, will also have that bond. You have some beautiful looking horses there..I love their names...cute dog too!! I pass all comments along to Mom because she enjoys them so very much!! Keeps a box of kleenex at her computer desk as her tear ducts seem to empty with each and every comment!! *S* Absolutely love the part about "when you grow up"....Mom is just going to love this!! Thanks for taking the time to comment. From a fellow Ontarian.......Kathy

Dear Grandma Teddy: I realized a LifeLong dream, when I was 48. I found, bought, raised and ground trained my first ever foal. His name is Khaos. It was such an amazing experience I went on to buy his little brother Kourage and later, the mom! I am now part of a herd of 4 Morgans! They enrich my life in countless ways. I hope I will be just like you when I grow up, Grandma Teddy!!! Happy Trails to you and Bribon!!!
