Cowgirl Hippy Chicks!

Cowgirl Hippy Chicks!

Whatever you want it to be. I think this encompasses many of our attitudes and I just thought it was a fitting group title. Basically chicks from the hippy generation that want to be good riders. I'm thinking about having a T-shirt made. And you?!

I'm jealous!! I don't own any horses just yet-but have thoroughly been enjoying playing with other peoples horses! Like the yearling I've been "helping" to train! And the horses at the Rescue where I volunteer!

HI Shannon, Welcome to Barnmice and Cowboy Hippy Chick!
How are thing going for you and your 7 horses in BC? I just have one horse that I own and adore but many that I just can't keep my hands off of. I want to learn massage so I can give back some pleasure to our precious horses.I do take lesson cause I want to be a better rider for my safety and for my horses pleasure too.
The past few days I've been learning how to wrap legs and hoofs. The vet says he has an abscess working it's way out. The ferrier thinks it for sure is NOT an abscess...probably strained a tenton.
So I'm busy treating the hoof and the lower leg. Everyone is telling me different things to use and not use. It's very upsetting.
I keep nodding off sitting here so off I go to get some sleep.
Have a fun day horsen around.

Hey hippy chicks Im new to the barn so hi Im a trail rider never had a lesson and absolutly am crazy about horses. I think thats all that matters doesnt matter what riding style your into but that you love horses. I own own 7 horses and most of them have been rescues they have been forgotten or abused in one way or another and I just enjoy playing with them and going out and exploring new trails with them. this world has become so worried about what you ride and what you compete in so I hope that all us hippies can just chat about every day things help give advice only when asked and just enjoy one anothers conversations so hope to chat soon take care.

Yep, I did not have enough money for lessons. I tried to board at the best stables I could, and listened to my horse.
I think that some of the stuff we experimented with opened our minds to the basic similarities between humans and animals. And I have found that some horses are more open to people who dared experience other ways of seeing. At least the horses seem more relaxed around people like us even if these people do not have experience with horses. I think that the horses "see" us better, and the horses seem more willing to try and communicate with us on another level.
Isn't it nice that our so-called misspent youths made us better horsepeople? It did not work on all people, but it sure seemed to work for us!

Of course you are wanted in the group!!
I had this explained to me by one fella as a girl "chick" , that grew up in the 'hippy' generation. They probably started off a little rough & without much assistance but they eventually learned how to ride effectively.
I am so happy tonight. I rode Cash in the outdoor and he was very responsive to my requests. He seems to be feeling like we are finally getting somewhere. He is so contented when when we are done...like he knows we did good and that I'm happy. If he could talk and I asked him after our ride "Was it as good for you as it was for me?" He'd say "yes!" Just how I want it to be. Remember I told you that Cash will pick up his head when grazing in the lawn and I can ask for a kiss and he'll give me his nose. Sometimes lately he'll hold it there long enough for me to teasingly give him a few instead of a quick peck.
I let another gal ride him tonight which is something I rarely do. I generally just don't think it's a good idea but tonight I wanted to see someone else ride him. She's an experienced rider and not rough nor wimpy. He was a very good boy and responded to her very lightest cues. What a good horsey day!

Hippy yes, cowgirl no--hunt seat all the way. Still want me?
I always have wanted to be a good rider, at least since I discovered that there were good riders as opposed to bad riders.
