Heaven on earth for this little girl.

For all that she does for me, I would be content just to lay in a field of grass and watch my horse be happy.

By the time I got Tango (4 years ago) she had been through 7 homes, including an auction, had 3 babies, and had just been through surgery for Ovarian tumours. Although she was kind at heart and through no fault of her own, the hormonal imbalance from the tumours had changed her into a pretty aggressive and difficult mare. I fell in love with her the moment I met her.

For the first 6 months or so, all we really did was walk around the large property where she is boarded. It took her a long time to relax in her new surroundings, although I think she was very happy in her new home. It took us another year to find a saddle that fit her well. But through all that, we grew to be great friends and built up a wonderful bond.

She hears me coming before I even get inside the barn.....she nickers her greeting as if to say
"I've been waiting...where have you been!" . She softly nuzzles for treats and lowers her head so I can scratch her ears. She stands patiently while I gab away to my friends at the barn. We are just "comfy" together.

I have never been more proud of her than when she gave "pony rides" at a fundraiser we did at the barn. My little nervous and unsure mare had come into her own.

She and I are both getting older....the aches of age are part of life now....but in my minds eye, I will always see us walking together, side by side, till it's time for one of us to go.

Tango is the horse I never knew I was looking for, but I feel so blessed to have found.
