I have 25 days left to reach my financial goal to help save the last of Alberta's Wild Horses. I am looking for donations, large or small. I am looking for people to share my link below on their fb, in emails, wherever you can. Please take a few minutes to read about my 'hopeful' new movie.
Only just a year ago I met my first Wild Horses - in living colour! They were the horses of the Alberta Foothills, Canada. Yes they were wild, yet so at peace with me and my camera being near.
I myself did not grow up with horses, but did grow up on a hobby farm, and roamed our 150 acre farm fields in total peace. The freedom of being in the wild, in nature, without walls, without fences, or cages. That is how I grew up.
So while I did not grow up with horses, when I visited these horses in Alberta last year I felt totally at home. At peace. Without fear. Just as thought we were both there for the same reason.
But the reality of this environment is very different from how I describe my early years in nature. These horses have a lot of threat to them, alot of challenges brought on by man,
industry, and neglect. And before too long, what is left of Alberta's wild horses, a small herd of 750, has a real danger of being gone for good.
I decided to do something about it, well hopefully, I am fundraising to produce a documentary. This is my profession, so I do actually know what I am doing. I am young, only 33, Canadian female film maker. I have had two documentaries before this. They did well, they toured the world, they were bought by CBC Television here in Canada. For that I am grateful. But the next chapter of my life is a new movie, "Lost in the Wind." This is not made yet, it will only get made through a fundraising site - I have not had much luck with grants, I suspect because it's a bit of a political subject to say the least.
A friend told me about Barnmice.com and said that this would be a really great platform to share my dream with. To introduce you all to this film and how you can donate. I encourage all of you to watch this trailer, and if it evokes any emotion in you whatsoever, then please donate by following this link. Even if it's just $5.00, every dollar counts.
Please let me know what you think!
