Dressage at Devon is proud to be one of the few dressage shows in the country that offers a complete Breed Show including in-hand and under saddle classes. Beginning as only a few in-hand classes in 1975, now 40 years later, the Breed Show has grown to three days of competition.

 

Certainly all the horses are winners, but a few of the classes stand out.

 

 

There were two big winners in the championships this year.

 

The Mare Championship, sponosored this year by In The Stirrup, was won by Welina (Wilkens x Stenagers Santana), a bay Dutch Warmblood mare bred by Bjarne & May-Britt Cristensen. Welina was also number one in the Mature Horse Championship. And, finally, Welina went home with the Grand Championship sponosored by Unionville Equine Associates. A great day for Welina and her people!

 

MW Feinermark, (Fidertanz x V.St.Pr.Cindy) a five-year old chestnut German Oldenburg Verband (GOV) bred by Ludger Holthaus and owned by Jennifer Vanjover of Middletown, NY, was a big winner, winning both the Stallion Championship as well as the Materiale Championship.

 

The Breeder’s Group is awarded to a group of no more than three horses of any age or sex, all bred by the person exhibitor and entered under the exhibitor’s name. This year, the winner was Iron Spring Farm.

“Born in the USA” Breeders award was developed in 2003 by the Dressage at Devon committee to recognize and reward the achievements of American breeders of Sport Horses. To be eligible, horses must be conceived and foaled in the USA. Scores earned in the open competition Tuesday and Wednesday are used to identify the winners. This year, the high point winner was Kouture (Florianus ll x Glamour Girl). The bay filly bred by Lesley Feakins received a score of 83.625.

 

 

Hilltop Farm! Jane MacElree, President and Owner, accepted the 2014 USDF Region 1 Award for outstanding Contribution to the Dressage Community by an Adult or Organization awarded to Hilltop Farm. Congratulations!

 

Dressage at Devon has always depended on their volunteers to run a successful show. 

 

“We have more than 125 volunteers this year, from as far away as Olympia, Washington,” said Penny Hawes volunteer coordinator. “These people handle everything from working in the ring as a steward to helping out in the volunteer room and ticket office. Many have been volunteering at Dressage at Devon for over a decade, and love coming back each year. (Then there are a few, like Melanie Sloyer, Breed Show Chair - who has been a committee member for 38 years - who count their service in decades!)We have volunteers who plan their annual vacation around Dressage at Devon. We are truly grateful for their dedication. Dressage at Devon would not be possible without them.”

 

Additional results can be viewed at www.dressageatdevon.org. The Breed Division will continue on Thursday, October 1 and will feature the Individual Breed Classes (Hanovarians, Lipizzans, Knabstruppers, and more!) as well as the start of the Performance Division.

 

Dressage at Devon takes place September 29 – October 4 at the Devon Horse Show Grounds in Devon, PA. Dressage at Devon tickets are $10 for general admission. Children 4-12 are $5 and children under 3 are admitted free. Reserved seating is $25 on Friday, $35 on Saturday and $10 on Sunday and is available online at www.dressageatdevon.org.
