UTE BUSSE CLINIC
Ute Busse's Bio

Ute began riding in Germany at the age of six. She was first taught by her father, Bruno Klann, and credits coach Hermann Rahlenbeck as another of her earliest influences. Before moving to Canada in 1982, Ute successfully competed in both dressage and eventing in Germany.
In the 1990's Ute had great success with her Trakehner gelding Dillon, and was named to the Canadian Equestrian Team in 1994. In 1995 she was a member of the Bronze Medal winning Canadian Dressage Team at the CDF Trivett Classic in Sydney, Australia. In the same year Ute finished in sixth place at the final Pan/Am Selection Trials and captured the Grand Prix Reserve Championship at the Ontario Championships. Four years later she qualified her Holsteiner gelding La Diamo to compete for a spot on the Pan/Am team.
In 2005 Ute competed the Oldenburg gelding Dover, owned by Wendy Beresford, and her own crossbred gelding Maximus with much success at CDIs across Canada, culminating the year with both horses being named to the B Short List for the Canadian Team. In 2006 Ute debuted the Dutch gelding Lindor's Finest, who she owns together with Sally Carlton, at the Prix St. Georges / Intermediare 1 Level, after having won numerous Fourth Level Championships with him throughout the 2005 season.
Ute has also coached a number of Young Riders to positions on the Ontario Young Riders Team, including David Boots and her daughters Sarah and Tina Busse, all of whom have represented Canada at the North American Young Riders Championships. Tina is now married to Jaimey Irwin and continues to ride competitively at the International level . As a coach, Ute has developed a number of successful Adult, Junior and Young Rider students. These include Meredith Risk who in 2006 showed at Fourth Level on Walter Shandley's gelding Q; and Lori Albrough, who showed at Third Level on her Fjord gelding Prisco. Some of Ute's Junior students include Kristen, Annika, and Mariah Sutton, Carley Brohman, and Brook Koppeser, who have all been very successful both locally and at the National shows.
