depends on what you want..I ride both, they both have there good and there bad. Personally I like the feel of the horse in my close contact english saddle, but I love a good western pleasure show horse. So I ride my western pleasure show horse most days in my close contact..which has now turned into HUS.

I prefer HORSE riding , as long as it's a horse ,I'm happy!!!

I am enjoying western pleasure at the moment.Love that I can throw away the reins(so to speak)and sit back on my pockets and my horse is still so responsive.Got to say that I have never tried english riding though, may be something to do in the future.....

I am learning how to ride and I'm going to ride bareback, then western....
