State Inter-school Championships

Here are some pics of My son Nick at the South Australian Inter-School State Championships. His Dun pony , Rocket, was 2nd in the primary school Challenge. The Challenge is a three part comp, a ridden work-out, a showjump course (judged on equitation) and an…

Spring shows

A very proud parent and coach. My son Nick has started to ride his young pony Lollie pop out at shows this spring. At the Pt Elliot Show yesterday he rode her around the showjumping like a pro ( allow me some fatherly exagerations). The pony is only just 7, his mother has been riding him out at the last couple of outings in the pony hack rings and has one qually for the Royal…

WET,WET,WET.

No, it's not about the pop group from the 90's!!

It's about the wettest start to the Royal Adelaide Show in a hundred years.

They say there were a thousand lightning strikes in the metro area, all I know is the thunder was so close it caused a traffic accedent in my pants!!

7.30am Friday, all 4 horses and the two ponys loaded well and we were out the gate on time on our way to the Show in good spirits. Tony Hall, Kate, Nick and Briony and myself looking forward to a…

Wentworth Show

Well, after a mammoth 8 hour drive in the new truck we arrived safely and everyone travelled well. Wentworth is in the western district of New South Wales, so a fair way from Inman Valley. My wife ,Kate, has a family connection with the area and she was the first Miss Wentworth showgirl. As this was the 20th anniversary of that milestone in her life we felt duty bound to return for the show ( plus the mother in law said we had to!). I took two Showjumpers and the kids took a pony each , plus…

He got the better of me!!

Well, I don't mind admiting when a horse has the better of me, and this one certainly did!! It was a hard day of riding this tricky horse , and he got the best me on more than one occasion. As you can see in the photo , he's a mighty beast and will take every ounce of my being to make something of him. Wish me luck!!

Hi Geoffrey!

Good job with Scratchy.  He's a little puzzled, but since he is a calm stallion he will probably figure it all out quickly, especially with you training him!

Hey, he looks calm enough for me to ride.

Congratulations Geoffrey, how many generations of horsemen in your family?  I'm afraid my family will have just one generation--me.

Hi Geoffrey, tell Nick that I think he is becoming a good rider.  I like how he keeps his head up.
