Coriander mixed with horse dung has allegedly been produced in India as a spice, the Times of India reports.

The revelation follows a series of police raids in the Ajmer district of Rajasthan.

The police uncovered four food manufacturing operations, one of which was allegedly producing a mix of coriander and horse dung.

Other fake spice mixes include waste residues from crops and what police called hazardous colouring agents.

There is even a suggestion that some of the products have been exported.
