A friend and I are thinking about taking our horses to Parelli lessons this Thursday morning. Just something new to stimulate us! I am still a John Lyon's person.

How did you learn from John Lyons... I only have one book that he wrote.... I also learned that he would say, No Oliver, lets do this instead.
I've enjoyed his magazine publication, "Perfect Horse" and I have a short DVD done by his son, Josh, that has some trick training on it. I should either sell it or start training some of the things on it. The cold winter months should be a good time for that.
I subscribe to his magazine, The Perfect Horse. It always has good training ideas in it.
Oliver and I are walking on a halter, going over items in my arena that I made for him as an obstacle course..... I got him to go from walk to trot once or twice and then he quit.... I had my friends over and he was super sweet.... and Toby doesn't want to do anything anymore..... and my feet hurt so bad I want to cry... that's new.... it just started and I don't get the non stop foot cramps that are wrecking my days.
Jen, what are you wearing on your feet?
I am always searching for different kinds of obstacles to use for play with Cash. What things are you useing?
Shirley, I am just wearing my regular shoes... cuz this is a brand new problem..... I got some clogs from my tack store that accidentally are the only shoes that bring relief... last night I massaged them by rubbing over a tennis ball... they feel better today.. my chiropractor even adjusted them for me....

let's see, we are just barely starting... so we go around barrels, over our boards that I bought at the lumber yard, a log, we have cones...... that's about it.... I actually am practicing not looking at him, and how our distance is and if I'm being focused in what I am asking... and he's following along sorta shoulder to shoulder... he's not resisting either, which is what I really was working on... he used to scoot off and try and get away before.... then after like two or three things that he did for me, I let him go.... and then the next day do a bit more... it took a few times to get him not to be jerkey with the lead rope.... :)
When I used to have cramps, my doctor told me to take magnesium every day. It does help getting those tight muscles to relax some.
My accupuncturist also recommended magnesium for leg cramps and it helped me alot.
For some reason taking a drink of water during a cramping episode will often help too as I learned from the reflexolgist. That helps with Charlie horse type cramping.
Minerals are important for all of us.... :) thanks for the health tips....
The Perfect Horse, J Lyon's terrif magazine is now defunct. Just got the notice and switched to The Horse Journal to finish my subscription.
I am trying to get someone interested in going on a trail ride about an hour from here. It is with eriders, and we can bring our dogs!
