Arabians have spirit!

Alright so I had an Arabian who had been abused. At first she was nervous, flightly, and agressive around adults. I was mesmerized by her at first, but I also was terified of her. She was a huge ho... CONTINUE

got my video uploaded.....didn't do anything different, it just seemed to suddenly work for me!

The video is about my little mare "TP Last Tango" and myself, so if you would like to see pictures of us, have a boo.

I have had Tango for 14 months. She is the first horse I have owned since I was a kid. She is a 14 year old registered 3/4 Arab - with some QH/Saddlebred mixed in. She's a real tryer and has a very sweet personality. If you would like to know more about who we are, where we live, ect. this is our website

This is my third Arab that has been in my life over the last 6 years. Two I leased at the barns I was riding at. Then we bought Tango last summer. She has been such a joy and is truly a member of our family! And I agree....the more time you spend with an Arab, the better it gets ...... for the horse and for me!

I hope this discussion group will keep growing and that we can all share more about our horses, ourselves, training and tack tips, etc.. Have a great day everyone!

Hi Group,
I was pleased to see this group on Barnmice. I have owned only Arabs / part-Arabs. My current horse is Gideon, 19 y.o. 3/4 Arab gelding. The one thing I know for sure about Arabs is that they need far more human contact than any other breed, and that they get better and better the more human companionship they get. This is a breed that developed while living IN the tents of Bedouins in the Arabian countries, and while it's true that they need other horses around, they need to be close to people who understand Arabs in order to become fully confident as horses.

Unfortunately many horse people do not understand Arabian psychology, so these magnificent horses are labelled "stupid" and are believed to be untrustworthy. In fact, they are highly intelligent and have a strong sense of self-preservation which was valued by the Bedouin, because the horse would save its rider in saving itself.

"Stupid'? I could tell you stories! Gideon is so smart I have to keep one step ahead of him in the training, or he's leading ME around by the nose! But once he's obeying, he's absolutely predictable, and has spirit and fire as well. Gotta love those Arabs!

Hi all, I am happy to join your group as a proud Arabian horse owner! My horse is Talisman's Treasure, a 14 year old mare. I am new to riding (2 years) and was very fortunate to meet Tali. She was my lesson horse for the last 6 months and I was able to buy her this past March. I can't get over how gentle and affectionate she can be and at the same time how spirited and full of life! She is well trained and we are learning to be quite the duo! What a joy it is to ride her and just hang out with her.

Hi kelli! I used to have an Arab. She came with a sad story of abuse, little trust in humans( which I helped her change), and no records of parents. She had a high spirit that never ceased to amaze me. She was so beautiful! I miss her so much!!

Hi Amy, I am joining your group because I am the proud owner of an Egyptian Arab and a half Arab/Tennesee Walker Cross (among a few other horses !!)
